Kanazawa: 03.22.2018 – Day 5
Another standard morning, woke up and got breakfast. The rest of the day consisted of relaxing and enjoying the rest of our time in Tokyo, viewing the Tokyo bay from our room.
Once we finalized packing, we checked out of our room (very sad to leave Tokyo) and headed to Tokyo station to head to our second destination Kanazawa.
We picked up some bento boxes to have for lunch on the train, they were really yummy!! We took the JR from Tokyo station to Kanazawa and it was about a 3.5 hour train ride.
Once we arrived at Kanazawa station, we headed straight to our hotel at the ANA Crowne Plaza. We were very lucky the hotel was near the station, because our luggage was a hassle to move with. The room was small but functional. The room space was big enough for a bed and a walkway to the bed. There was also a small desk with a TV on top and a small bathroom. This was no Odaiba Hilton (Tokyo hotel) in comparison.
Once we dropped our bags off, we ran out to explore. We went into the local mall and browsed in some home decor stores, a book store and a music store. It was interesting going into the music store because they still had portable CD players for sale, lots of CDs and old timey music store stuff; it was very nostalgic. David and I both agree that we would classify the mall to be equivalent to be the “Short Hills” style mall.
Once we were done shopping, we had Mochi Ice Cream at a place recommended by Chie and also picked up some Sakura Ginger Hot Tea at a vendor near by.
Mochi Ice Cream Flavors:
Green Tea
Sakura
Chocolate
Chocolate Banana
We were exhausted early again and didn’t have dinner (again). Hoping to eventually get used to this time zone change.
Quick SideBar: David and I both enjoyed getting to see Sumo Wrestling for the first time on TV!
We put on the movie LaLa Land (do not recommend) and fell asleep 1/3 of the way through.
Another successful day! Till tomorrow…
